Youtube Launches a Dedicated Podcast Page for US Users

A new podcasts homepage is now available to US users and soon Youtube will launch this feature in other countries also. YouTube is Google’s strongest media brand, so the move to YouTube Podcasts makes a ton of sense. YouTube Podcasts will be Google’s fourth podcasting platform.

What’s in The Page :

“YouTube.com/podcasts” This URL might not be working for some and some of the users will see this page as the podcast page but it doesn’t have much right now. It shows “Popular Episodes” and “Popular Podcast Playlists” for random shows, and that’s about it. Clicking through still only gives you the normal YouTube interface. 

Who are Youtube’s Competitors :

Some of Google/YouTube’s biggest competitors, like Amazon, Apple and Spotify have spent millions on podcast-related technology and exclusivity deals, So to be in the Business youtube is also offering a good deals for podcast creaters a whooping amount of $50,000 to Individual Creators and $300,000 to Podcast networks as it continues to compete with Spotify, Apple and Amazon.

  • Hired podcast exec Kai Chuk in 2021.
  • Offered podcasters and networks $50k-$300k to create videos.
  • Discussed audio ads and new analytics for audio-centric creators in a leaked document.
  • Partnered with NPR to bring on 20+ of its most popular shows.

  • YouTube will make its background listening feature free for all users, potentially offering an ad-free version for subscribers.
  • Podcasters will benefit from YouTube’s discovery platform and its ability to surface evergreen content by guest, host, and topic.
  • YouTube will change podcasting, prompting hosts and marketers to move to a more visual format.
